The Final Challenge for the Future Education of Gyeongnam, Glocal University 30
The major universities in Gyeongsangnam-do have submitted a challenge for the Ministry of Education's 'Glocal University 30' project.
Gyeongnam National University, Yeonam College of Science and Technology, and Dongwon University of Science and Technology have officially submitted their 'Preliminary Designation Application' for the Ministry of Education's preliminary designation review this May.
With this, these universities will seize new opportunities.
The Glocal University 30 is a national policy project aimed at discovering innovative models for local universities to lead win-win initiatives between regions and universities. The Ministry of Education plans to designate 15 to 20 universities preliminarily this year and finalize the designation of up to 10 Glocal Universities in September.
Gyeongnam Province is continuously holding meetings with each university to advance this project and systematically supplementing proposals that include innovative strategies. Through these efforts, the aim is to establish a foundation for mutually developing the region and universities.

Gyeongnam National University
Seeks to be a "University Integrated with Industry-Academia based on Digital Innovation."
Aims to cultivate convergence talents in smart manufacturing, AI, and digital logistics through corporate support closely connected with national industrial complexes.
Plans to leverage ultra-large manufacturing AI technology to achieve innovation in smart manufacturing and develop practical talents tailored to the needs of local advanced industries.
Yeonam College of Science and Technology
Ulsan University of Science and Technology and Korea Polytechnic VI have collaborated to present a new model. They propose the "Industry-Academic Win-Win Union College," highlighting practical education based on local manufacturers LG and HD Hyundai.
This program utilizes a virtual factory called SimFactory to cultivate production technology personnel and provides job training through virtual reality alongside advanced practical training.
This educational innovation is designed to directly respond to the technical personnel demands of the local manufacturing belt. It is expected to foster technology-centric education.
Dongwon University of Science and Technology
Keimyung College University and Jeju Tourism University are collaborating to design the "K-Higher Vocational Education Platform."
This platform focuses on cultivating convergence professionals in culture, technology, tourism, and service sectors. Attracting international students and training highly skilled foreign personnel is also an important goal.
Additionally, it plans to provide hands-on education that connects local businesses with overseas talent.
The core aim is to enhance global employment capabilities and nurture specialized foreign personnel suitable for the local industry.
Gyeongnam Province's Strategic Support and Future Schedule
Gyeongsangnam-do is conducting multifaceted administrative support by linking a dedicated task force and advisory group to establish strategies for each university.
A provincial official stated, “We will continue to operate the advisory group tailored to the specialization of the universities after the preliminary designation.”
Additionally, to receive the official designation assessment, local industries, universities, and local governments must cooperate to establish an innovation execution plan, and the results must be submitted to the Ministry of Education through the metropolitan government.
