DIVE stands for 'Data Insights and Visualization Event', and it is a global hackathon competition focused on data analysis and visualization. The term hackathon is a portmanteau of hacking and marathon, where developers, analysts, and designers form teams to create app services or business models within a limited time frame.

This year's competition will feature a variety of activities based on themes and data suggested by the organizers. These include ▲ Data analysis ▲ App service development ▲ Mentoring and judging ▲ Presentation of outstanding teams. Additionally, the competition boasts a total prize pool of 10 million KRW, and the Busan Mayor's Award will be granted. Through this opportunity, participants can enhance their skills and gain practical experience.




Intense Competition Among Domestic and International Participants

A total of 89 teams and 333 individuals who passed the preliminary screening will participate in this finals. Among them, there are 40 foreign talents from 14 countries, highlighting the international stature of the competition. Participants from various nationalities such as Indonesia, Uzbekistan, Myanmar, and Mongolia will work together, showcasing foreign students' collaborations with local teams through Dongseo University.

Notably, about 300 of the total applicants reside outside Busan. This indicates that DIVE 2025 has successfully attracted national interest and participation, going beyond being a merely regional event. It creates opportunities for participants from diverse backgrounds to showcase new ideas and creativity.

This year, a new 'technology partner' category has been added to increase professionalism.

A variety of speakers will participate in this event, including private companies such as Kakao Mobility, BNK Financial Group, AllData, and public institutions like the Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation (HUG), Busan Port Authority, Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology, and Southeast Regional Statistical Office. They will suggest themes utilizing their respective data.

Additionally, global technology partners such as AWS (Amazon Web Services), Deloitte, and Salesforce will participate, sharing cloud infrastructure and data analysis experiences, and providing various support for project execution.

Moreover, 10 sponsors including Dongseo University, Pusan National University, Smart M2M, and DeepBrain will be involved. Notably, they will offer participants 1:1 job counseling opportunities, catching attention.

This collaborative framework built by private, public, and global leaders provides participants with the opportunity to achieve tangible results.

The competition consists of two stages: pre-preparation and finals. Participants will analyze data and seek solutions for two weeks before the competition starts. The finals include intensive development and analysis, followed by presentations and awarding ceremonies.

On the first day, August 23, participant registration and the opening ceremony will occur, along with topic presentations by speakers and team development and mentoring sessions. This is a crucial time for team members to collaborate to achieve the best outcomes.

On the second day, August 24, final presentation materials will be submitted, followed by presentations and judging grouped by speakers. Afterward, there will be a comprehensive awards ceremony and closing ceremony, where the overall champion, grand prize, and excellent award teams will be selected. Various side events such as a lucky draw are also prepared to provide enjoyable experiences for participants.
