With a total length of 11.43 km and including 7 stations, this line will utilize a single-track unmanned operation system. The vehicles use rubber wheels to minimize noise and maximize electrical efficiency through new technology called integrated inverter (VVVF-SIV).

To enhance safety, a bogie brake control system has been implemented, and in areas adjacent to residential zones, window haze devices are used to enhance privacy. Duct-type air conditioning units have been installed to increase cooling efficiency, along with user-friendly wireless phone charging stations.

The passenger capacity of each vehicle set is based on 104 passengers, expandable to a maximum of 140. The external design of the vehicle features an elegant mint color scheme.

Introduction of New Vehicles, Ensuring Safety and Convenience

The light rail vehicles of Yangsan Urban Railway are rubber-wheeled models based on domestically developed K-AGT technology. While these vehicles resemble those of Busan Metro Line 4, they have been improved in various aspects to meet the latest safety standards.

Vehicle Improvement Details

Improvements have been made to the door type, switching from sliding doors to double doors to provide richer access.

The width of the passenger seats has been increased from 440mm to 480mm, ensuring better comfort for users. Additionally, the width of the cabin aisle has been expanded from 1000mm to 1100mm, enhancing movement convenience.

The puncture detection devices installed on the tires enhance the safety of the rubber wheels, while LTE-R technology has been applied to prevent malfunctions, establishing a smart preventive maintenance system. This allows for safer operations through proactive repairs.

Enhanced Operational Stability

The introduction of CEM construction methods has improved the ability to absorb energy during impacts effectively.

Moreover, a smart inspection system checks the vehicle's condition in real-time to enhance safety.

Future Schedule and Opening Plan

After comprehensive testing, the aim is to open in the second half of 2026.

According to the vehicle import plan, a total of 18 vehicles (9 sets) are scheduled to be imported sequentially by August 2025, with trial operations starting in the section between Yangsan City Hall Station and Naesong Station for the second construction sector.

Yangsan Urban Railway: A New Driving Force for Regional Development

First Import of Yangsan Light Rail Vehicle

When the light rail connecting Yangsan and Busan opens, it is expected to become a significant pillar of public transportation. This line, connecting Nopo-dong in Busan to Bukjeong-dong in Yangsan, will not only make commuting easier for Yangsan citizens but also help alleviate traffic congestion between Busan and Yangsan.

The opening of the Yangsan Urban Railway is anticipated to greatly enhance transportation convenience for citizens, with improved access between Busan and Yangsan thanks to its connection with Busan Metro Line 4. This change is expected to particularly promote population influx in the northern areas of Yangsan and positively impact the development of the surrounding regions.

In this regard, Mayor Na Dong-yeon stated, "The vehicles that have arrived today mark the important starting point for the opening of the Yangsan Urban Railway," and added, "We will do our utmost to complete the remaining construction and operational preparations so that citizens can safely and comfortably use the urban railway." This will become a critical milestone in the development of transportation infrastructure between Yangsan and Busan.
